Aquaponic Greenhouse Fall Update

I finally had some time to make another video update of my greenhouse. As you can see, I’m still suffering from a white fly problem and the strawberries just aren’t strong enough to survive. They’re starting to succumb to the flies and are getting mildew on them. I’m probably going to rip them all out, and this winter drop the temp below freezing to kill off the bugs. Bring back DDT! ;-)

There are some stats near the end, so you may want to watch it in full-screen hi-def so you can see the info!

Just a quick question about your results, how much do your fish weight in total right now and what is the timeline for the amount of food you recorded? Thanks!

I don't know the total weight. There's about 25 fish in that tank and they are 3-6 inches long. They are fed several times a day and the amount of feed is adjusted with the temperature of the water.

Howdy, I would love to know more about your software control and monitoring solutions. I am getting ready to put together an aquaponics setup and monitoring/control is something I've been wanting to explore. Is this something you have considered going open-source with?

No plans on going open-source with it. I've been developing the hardware/software for a couple of years so it's a pretty big (time) investment to just give it away. My next video I do will probably detail the automation system so make sure you subscribe to my YouTube channel! Thanks.

Have you looked into Black soldier flies to combat the whitefly problem? Their supposed to be effective at repelling house flies using pheromones, they might have an effect on the whiteflies. And their larva makes good fish food.
